Update on Health System Transformation
April 1, 2022 marks the beginning of a new chapter for AFM as our organization will begin the operational steps to shift certain roles and functions under regional health authorities and transition operational responsibility to Shared Health. These changes, as part of Manitoba Health System Transformation efforts and recommendations from the Virgo Report , are necessary to continue our efforts in supporting and strengthening local and provincial mental health and addictions service delivery for Manitobans.
We wish to assure the public there will be no changes to services and programs or to how they are accessed by Manitobans.
This website will remain active and continue to serve as a resource for information on addictions programming, services, courses and resources related to substance use and problem gambling challenges. Additionally, all AFM locations, phone numbers, social media channels and staff email addresses will remain active unless otherwise indicated.
What’s next? You may start to see the name Shared Health in some of our communications, materials or on our website/social media over the coming weeks and months. These gradual changes are part of our activities to become part of Mental Health & Addictions, Shared Health.
For more than six decades, AFM has been there for Manitobans with a range of services and supports relating to substance use, problem gambling and mental health. Our legacy work will continue to be here as the services provided by AFM will form an integral part of the new model of care for provincial mental health and addictions service delivery for Manitobans.
